Week 4

Faith restored. That’s the theme of last week. A week in which a bunch of streaks were halted. A week where we were looking for signs from teams that we still weren’t 100% about, they gave us what we were looking for in dramatic fashion.

The Bills and Lions went into week 3 not having beaten the Patriots an Vikings respectively. They went down big early with the pats jumping out to a 3 TD lead and the Vikings putting up 20 before the Lions ever responded.

But both came flying back as a result of a renewed confidence they’ve earned through two wins coming into their week 3 showdowns.

The Giants came from a differed route. The Giants looked lackluster and sloppy in a week one loss to divisional foe Redskins. A week two win over the Rams did nothing to quiet concerns the critics had of the Giants. The Giants didn’t so much as win the game as the Rams gave the game away. That Giants team, led by mistake prone Eli Manning, walked into Philly. The team that dealt the biggest blow that led to the Giants missing the playoffs and the Packers, the eventual Super Bowl champions, making it.

I was afraid like I had never been for my team. You can make the case that if the Giants lost to the Eagles, the season could’ve took a dive. But as he always seems to do, Eli Manning proved his critics wrong and played a mistake free game to lead his team to a 29-16 victory. It was such a lopsided victory it led to one of the all time best post game bitching sessions by Michael Vick who claimed he was being unfairly treated.

It’s funny, you’d think after spending time in prison he wouldn’t complain about guys hitting him. But that’s neither here nor there.*
*= ok one more. For the Giants that’s the second NFC East team that they’ve knocked into great post game bitch sessions. Who can forget a teary-eyed T.O. Talking about his QB.

The great equalizer has been the play of their front line. Last week they abused the undersized Eagles line and the Giants o-line kept the Eagles front off base. They play that way every week, the Giants will be able to compete.

Here are my picks for week 4:

Lions over (+2.5) the COWBOYS- anyone else get the feeling that Romo got in the way of that win more than contributing to the W?

Saints (-7) over JAGS

49ers (+9.5) over EAGLES- expect more complaining.

Redskins (-3) over RAMS

Titans (pickem) over BROWNS- I believe in you Matt Hasselback!

Bills (-3) Over BENGALS

Vikings (-3) over CHIEFS

Panthers (+6.5) over BEARS

Steelers (+3.5) over TEXANS- toughest game to pick. The Steelers have not looked good this season but I learned my lesson. A team with a good pedigree always beats the flashy up and comer though the Texans have been everyones sleeper pick four years running. I ain’t buying.

Falcons (-4.5) over SEAHAWKS

Giants (-1) over CARDS

DOLPHINS (+7) over Chargers

PACKERS (-12) over Broncos

RAIDERS (+6) over Patriots

RAVENS (-4) over Jets

BUCS (-10) over Colts- I’m legitimately excited to see the great Josh Freeman.

Enjoy week 4!
